Much of my career has revolved around daily deadlines, while balancing long-term projects and goals around the short-term work. I use these experiences every day to improve my workflow. I've been fortunate enough to see the fruits of this labor through promotions both in the companies I have worked with and the promotion to a company with a higher profile, The Boston Globe. Along the way I have learned how to develop relationships with editors and other designers that now span the country. They have taught me how to be a great team player and when to step up and fill a larger role when the opportunity arises. These opportunities, in turn, have allowed me to share my experiences with the interns and recent college graduates I’ve worked with, by far the most rewarding part of my career journey.

I most enjoy working in the Adobe Suite, particularly in relation to how each program interacts with the others. The experience I’ve gained in newspaper design has proved invaluable when transitioning into UX and UI work. In newspaper, I usually start in InDesign with a layout and use Photoshop and Illustrator, depending on whether I need objects such as photo illustrations or various forms of charts. I also enjoy working with Photoshop timeline and After Effects to create motion graphics for digital use. Not only has this foundation led me to success using Adobe XD, Sketch, and InVision, it has also advanced my understanding of how coding languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React interact with each other.

Smart website design always keeps easy usability in mind. It helps the user solve the problem or answer the question they're looking for, while taking them on the smoothest journey possible. It is only with that in mind that strong typography, layout, and graphics are successful. I look forward to continuing my journey to improve my work utilizing these principles.
